How We Research & Select Products

Every buying guide on SmartFinds is produced through editorial research. This page explains exactly what that means — and what it does not mean.

1. Specification Research

We study publicly available product specifications from manufacturers and authorised brand pages. For electronics, this includes driver sizes, sensor models, battery capacities, connectivity standards, and IP ratings. For kitchen appliances, this includes capacity, wattage, and temperature range. We do not claim to measure these specifications ourselves.

2. Indian Market Suitability

We assess whether products are officially distributed in India, carry manufacturer warranty coverage applicable to Indian purchasers, and are compatible with Indian voltage and socket standards where relevant. This assessment is based on published product listings and brand documentation — not independent laboratory testing.

3. Value-for-Money Comparison (INR Pricing)

We compare features and specifications across price brackets to identify genuine value differences. Prices shown in our guides are point-in-time observations recorded from Amazon India. We do not invent prices, and we do not claim prices are live or current. Amazon pricing changes frequently — always verify at the time of purchase.

4. Comparative Editorial Research

We compare multiple products side by side using manufacturer-published data, product feature lists, and compatibility information. We look for meaningful differentiating factors — such as weight, connectivity, or interface — that help readers match a product to their actual use case.

5. Transparency: What We Do and Do Not Do

  • No hands-on testing: We do not claim to have physically tested products unless we explicitly state so. We have not performed hands-on studio testing, long-term ownership trials, or independent laboratory benchmarks for the current article inventory.
  • No customer research: We do not conduct proprietary customer surveys or aggregate private review data. We do not claim to represent aggregate buyer sentiment.
  • No invented specifications: We do not fabricate, estimate, or extrapolate product specifications. If a specification is not published by the manufacturer, we do not include it.
  • No invented prices: Prices are observed point-in-time from Amazon India listings. We do not calculate discounts unless both the original price and sale price are clearly stated in the product listing.
  • Verified dates: Each buying guide carries a Last Verified date indicating when we last confirmed product availability and price data.
  • Future testing: When we conduct actual hands-on testing, we will explicitly label guides accordingly. Unlabelled guides are specification-based research only.
